Radcliff 3 1/2 Weeks- 8 Weeks

Today Radcliff is three and a half weeks old.  I can't believe it.  Time is flying too fast for this mama. We just fall more and more in love with him everyday.  He is starting to get more and more alert.  He loves to look around the room and pulls the most skeptical faces (pushes is head back so he has a double chin.  He crosses his eyes, and purses his lips, we LOVE this face) like he's trying to figure everything out.  We say, "Look, skeptical baby is skeptical!"  He is still hungry as ever and we still call him our piggy, pig, pig.  At his two week appointment he weighed nine pounds, three ounces and the doctor said he was a very healthy boy!  There's nothing that could deter him from his milk... except for pooping.  He hates it.

Sadly enough, I never finished this post a little over a month ago, Radcliff is now eight weeks and two days old.  Where does the time go?  He is downstairs sleeping in his swing right now.  He looks like such a little man in the swing (no one gets between him and his swing, he loves it and I love that he loves it!)  His arms are laid out over the blankets (he hates to be swaddled or restricted) and every once in a while he'll open his eyes half way, look around confused, and then close them again.  I love him so much!

So let's see...  what can we tell you about Radcliff.  A lot!  He is getting really chubby.  We have his two month appointment on the 18th.  I am dying to know how much he weighs.  I'm guessing at least 14 pounds.  We will see!  He is smiling a lot now!  He smiled for the first time at about a month.  My friend Sara was over, and I was helping him poop on his changing table (rubbing his little bumb, something we do a lot in this house) and he started kicking his fat little legs and did the biggest smile as he looked at me!  It was the best.  He was very selfish with his smiles for a couple weeks after that, but is becoming more generous with them.  He'll start to almost laugh, and smile up at us so big!  If he gets too excited, which he often does on his changing table during the daytime, he'll give himself the hiccups.  He used to HATE the hiccups but they are becoming more tolerable for him.  He gets kind of excited right when he gets them, but then by the time they've lasted for 20 minutes he starts to get annoyed.  He is a very happy baby during the day, and evening times he gets fussier.  If we are home, he's much happier period.  If we decide to go out in the evenings it can be a bit of a struggle to calm him down.  He has the saddest sad face I think I have ever seen too.  It breaks my heart!  He looks so much like my dad when he cries, it's hilarious!  Wren is awesome at getting him to stop crying.  He holds him upright, puts Radcliff's arms and hands over his shoulder and walks or bounces him and he immediately calms down.  Wren walks from room to room with him as Radcliff stares at each thing intently.  Wren loves him so much, and I can already tell Radcliff is going to be a daddy's boy.  AND A MOMMY'S BOY!  ;) Radcliff also loves to bounce on the ball.  Something that will always calm him down and usually puts him right to sleep!  At about a month old Rad started to get baby acne and had it pretty bad for a couple weeks.  It was everything in me not to pick every last one of them since I am such a picker!  It cleared up a couple weeks ago and he has the softest little baby skin now.  My favorite is to kiss his cheeks all day long.  He's a champ and lets me.  I love rocking him in his rocking chair and kissing him over and over again on his fat cheeks.  It's the best!  Radcliff is still doing the grunting-head butting motion when he first starts to nurse.  He literally gets way too excited he can't handle himself!  He still reminds me of a little piggy when it comes to food!  He loves getting in the bath with me every morning.  He used to HATE the baths we'd give him in the sink.  I think he'd get too cold.  Now I have a little baby support device that I put in the bath tub that holds him upright and he just loves it!  Right as I turn on the water he opens his eyes really wide and stares around a little bit confused (even though he knows the water is coming).  As the water slowly creeps up his little body he get more and more excited.  He starts to kick his fat little legs and move his arms and smile so big!  We do this every morning and then put baby lotion on and get him all cuddly.  I feed and rock him for his nap, and then put him in his swing and he is a happy boy!  Before his bath, right as he wakes up I set him on his changing table and he kicks, and laughs, and talks.  He makes the cutest little baby noises, I love it!   He is pro at holding his little head up and has always been so strong!  He loves to be in the sit-up position so he can see everything that's going on.  His eyes are still gray and we are excited to see what color they'll be!  He is sleeping from about 10:00pm to 4:00am during the night, when at 4:00am he wakes up to eat.  He'll go right back to sleep (usually in our bed that second shift, I'm bad but it's just too fun to cuddle him!) until around 7:00am.  He'll eat again, and sleep until about 9:00am or 10:00am if I let him.  Throughout the day he'll take two long naps, and then little cat naps in between.  He loves the outdoors and we've been trying to go on lots of walk.  Wren takes Radcliff out to water the flowers at night while I get ready for bed.  He loves helping his daddy!  :)  Radcliff pooped all over Wren in the closing prayer on Sunday in church.  We could't help but die of laughter.  It was so funny hearing him grunt and toot during the quietest time of the meeting. I KNOW the whole congregation heard.  It was so funny!  Wren's mom watched Radcliff for the first time yesterday since I will be working on Mondays.  She is so sweet!  I had to fight back the tears as I said goodbye to him, and was sad as I drove to work.  But then she sent me the cutest picture of him in his little beanie in the stroller, and the caption said, "Memahoohoo's first morning stroll with little Cliff :)"  I immediately felt better and knew he'd be just fine without me!  It sounds like they had some fun little adventures and that he got some undivided attention from his Mema and she said she had so much fun!  I'm so thankful to her for watching him!

I just wanted to make sure that another month doesn't pass before I write again!  There are so many cute little things that he does, I don't ever want to forget!

Hey Guys, Radcliff Speaking

Hi Everyone,

Radcliff here.
Sorry for the picture overload of me.  I just think I'm pretty special and couldn't choose just one.  I pull some pretty funny faces so I thought I'd share them all so you could see them for yourself...
I am eleven days old today so I thought I'd share eleven silly facts about myself:
1. I am such a sweet little baby.  Mommy and daddy keep pinching themselves hoping I stay this calm.  Little do they know... :)
2. However I am not calm when I poop.  Nothing makes me more mad.  My face goes red, my eyes go crossed, it's not a pretty site.  Although mommy and daddy think it is.  They're weird.
3. Mommy and daddy can't contain themselves when I pull my zoolander face.  My lips go as little and round as a cheerio and I open my eyes really wide and look up.  Ya, it's talent.
4.  I love sleeping on mommy and daddy's chests, although sometimes it gets really hot there and I wake up sweating.  Sheesh!
5. I am a very jumpy sleeper.  Jumpin at just the silliest old things.
6. I love smiling in my sleep.  Dreaming about heaven I suppose.
7. I open my eyes just a smidgen when I'm sleeping and roll my eyes back and forth, back and forth.  And then I pull a face where it looks like I'm trying not to smile at the same time.  That'll creep mom and dad out.
8. Sometimes when I sleep I start breathing really, really fast.  It used to scare mommy, but now she finds it endearing.  Got her tied around my little finger.
9. I would nurse all day long if mom would let me.  She won't.  Bummer.
10. I like to pee on my face and on the piggy bank that aunt Allyssum gave me.  What?  The cold air makes it impossible not to!  Sue me!
11. I can sleep a couple of hours in my swing, or about four hours on mommy.
Again, got mommy tied around my little finger, because she let's me sleep on her more now that she's realized this :)

Hope you enjoyed.  Talk to you around 20 days old?
